Why we can’t live our lives to the fullest…

They say to live every moment like it could be your last, but when something takes up so much of your time, hearing the said phrase “live life to the fullest”¬†can seem pointless… here are some things that take way longer then they should and waste our precious time! Brushing teeth… given its a necessary task, surely they should have invented by now a solution to the whole 2 minutes issue…that’s 4 minutes a day which equates to¬†24.3 hours a year, that’s practically a whole day stood in your¬†pyjamas awkwardly waiting for the lonest 2 minutes of your life to pass.

The microwave…when the packet says “ready in 2 minutes” you think that’s no time at all! But when you are constantly watching your food rotate, it seems like a lifetime…while we are on the issue, surely there should be an option to turn off the beep sound, as I’m pretty sure you have at least once, been awake making a cheeky midnight snack and dreading the beep that will inevitably wake your parents…

Queuing…no matter how much you want the item or activity you are queuing for, the wait is one of the worst things…seeing others who have beaten you to the front makes said item seem suddenly less attractive, the temptation to return the item or give up all together drastically increases.

Weather watching… The phase “life isn’t about waiting for the¬†storm to pass, its about learning to dance in the rain” doesn’t really apply when you have your best makeup and outfit on, and you’ve decided to make the effort to straighten your¬†hair and your feeling a million dollars. Suddenly your street turns into a river from a tropical rainforest and the inevitably frizzy hair, drenched clothes¬†and panda eyes make an appearance. The only suitable option is to wait. After you make this choice, you suddenly find yourself popcorn in hand, binge watching Netflix.


Wonderlust : NYC

After recently arriving back home from NYC, I already know I will be returning, multiple times. Our two week holiday consisted of me and my mum travelling and exploring Washington, Niagara Falls and NYC. After seeing so many films and tv series set in the big apple, the excitement was already building up before we had even arrived!

After shopping around in the hustle and bustle of times square and 5th Avenue, the peace and quiet of Central Park was happily welcomed! We cycled around the park which took an hour, then after lunch we did a spot of boating in the lake.

Spotted on the steps of the Met…. #GossipGirlMoment! After walking around the park and seeing the Metropolitan Museum of Art, I had the sudden urge to try a giant pretzel…but don’t let this picture fool you…this turned out to be a big¬†mistake as I hated it! I would recommend the sweet ones instead of this savoury one.

A quick hop on the subway downtown took us to the 9/11 memorial and the new One World Trade Center. A very moving place which you have to witness.



After exploring the famous Wall Street, we headed to the harbour on the east side of the island. As we had purchased Big Red Bus tickets (a bus we used to help us see the sites and travel around Manhattan), we had free boat tickets included, to go close to Brooklyn and the iconic Statue of Liberty. Although feeling slightly seasick at the start, the trip was incredible and gave us stunning views of the island.




On one of the last few days we explored the area of Chelsea. We decided to check out the High Line in the morning which was a really lovely start to the day. The¬†High¬†Line¬†is 1.45 miles long and it’s an elevated park on the unused¬†old railway/tracks. This was a great idea especially in the morning before the crowds came! It allowed us to explore different places and angles of New York. Straight after by accident, on our way uptown, we found¬†Chelsea Market. With¬†a beautiful atmosphere,¬†numerous food shops (food heaven!) and a¬†vintage d√©cor this became one of my favourite spots on the island.

This place really was an instagrammer’s heaven!



Other good iconic spots we visited include the Flatiron building and Grand Central Station. The station was bigger than I had imagined and although it was raining at some points, it was still better than the sun shining in most places.

One of the extra treats we added to the holiday was a New York Yankees game. I went¬†to the game with no knowledge of the game and having never watched even 5 minutes of a game even online or on Tv but…. I really enjoyed it! We didn’t have the best seats¬†in the¬†stadium¬†or a clue what was going on¬†for the first part but it really was very good. The music and crowd created a spectacular and exciting atmosphere especially once it began to get dark and get going. We left the game slightly before the end which I would recommend because even¬†when we left,¬†the subway was already full of Yankee’s fans on their way home after enjoying an excellent evening of sport.




On the final night we nervously went to the top of the Rockefeller Center. As I have struggled with a fear of heights for many years now, I was very anxious to see whether I would enjoy the experience or not. We arrived 30mins before sunset and despite my nerves I ended up being blown away by the views! By getting there just before the sunset, it meant we could get incredible views of the city before the sun set, as the sun went down and the city at night. The views of the Empire State Building and Central Park blew me away and I could have stayed up there for hours.

We stayed in the Novotel Times Square (you can actually see the hotel in the first picture!) and I would really recommend this hotel, as it is on Broadway right next to all the action! Despite being the city that never sleeps, we actually managed to get some, as the room was perfectly quiet despite being in a noisy area.

I hope one day you can experience the buzz of New York.


Types of athletes

With so many teens these days doing sport either in or out of school, its becoming easier and easier to recognise the stereotypes.

The Event racer –¬†This crunch time performer, the athlete at competitions whose performance¬†does not correlate whatsoever with the effort they put in during¬†practice.

The Thrasher РThe powerhouse of the team, this person proudly completes any drill/exercise as if it is life or death. While they pump out max effort on everything they do, for the Thrasher this doesn’t always correlate to the results.

The Mind-gamer РThis person will rant on constantly about how out of shape they are, how awful they feel or how bad of a day they had… and then proceed to smoke you throughout practise.

The Sprinter –¬†hiding in any place to avoid a hard/ endurance task, this person will also cruz the majority of the practise until near the end they will unleash their unused energy and although everyone knows what they have done, this athlete will stand smugly in the corner thinking they are the fastest/best.

The Editor РThe person who will edit any task to their needs although no one knows what these needs are.

The Judge¬†–¬†This athlete, although perhaps not particularly skilled themselves, will continue to tell everyone their weakness and how they can improve by using their limited knowledge.

The¬†Thief¬†–¬†Never has all equipment needed, so has to borrow from everyone else; usually doesn‚Äôt return it until asked months¬†later‚Ķusually not in the same condition. They simply take what is needed from other athletes, write their names on it, and when confronted, said they got it¬†online.

The Con artist –¬†usually¬†pulling out of the main part of the practice/session,¬†often after someone has beaten them at something.¬†Given reasons¬†generally include injury, illness, or¬†decisive¬†text message. Can usually be found enjoying a nice warm shower or rest, while the rest of the group¬†continue to work hard or suffer!

Gold fish brain!¬†–¬†Forgets the set/task almost immediately and is consistently asking for clarification on specifics. ‚ÄúHow many was that?‚ÄĚ and “what are we doing?” and “I’m confused” are¬†common remarks.

The Eager beaver РThis person takes joy in being the first to be at the practise and has usually started a drill/exercise before the coach has finished explaining. The tendency to max out the warm up is often present with this athlete.

Summer Bucket List

Summer has finally arrived! For us British teens that means its time to put those brollies back in the cupboard and to find that dusty factor 50+ suncream! But what to do with these precious few summer months away from all the homework, deadlines and exam stress? Your summer guide has arrived!

We have compiled a list of our favourite summer activities that are essential for those #summerselfies and bragging rights…

1. Beach trip!¬†No summer is complete without a group gathering down the beach…

2. Movie Night Get your friends together and grab tonnes of snacks and blankets for the best night in.

3. Colour run¬†Look online for your nearest colour run and get all your mates involved for a great way to keep fit and have fun whilst taking loads of selfies and photos to Instagram later ūüėČ

4. Concert/Festival No summer is complete without good care-free music, whether its your favourite band or a local festival.

5. Make something Either bake a cake or our personal favourite..tie-dye some shirts for a retro summer vibe

6. Bike ride¬†Grab a bike/skateboard/scooter or even walk…to find your summer hide-out

7. Go for an adventure¬†Doesn’t matter where…take some friends, hit the road and ADVENTURE!!

8. Water fight Revive your childhood!

9. Watch a sunset Simple..but definately worth it..

10. Take loads of photos Make sure to take many photos to either post on social media or print off and keep forever as memories of your perfect summer.
